Apollon Football Company (Public) Ltd, informs that on Thursday morning (08/07) a delegation of our team visited the building of the Limassol Red Cross Branch and delivered food and basic supplies to the victims from the catastrophic fires that hit mountainous Limassol on Saturday.
The coach of our team, Alexander Zorniger, and our football players, Chambos Kyriakou and Ioannis Pittas, handed over the supplies to the President of the Limassol Red Cross, Mr. Niki Hatzitsagaris.
The head of the delegation of our football team, Mr. Zorniger, speaking to Apollon media, expressed his satisfaction for the social contribution of Apollon to our suffering fellow human beings.
“When you look at the social work of the Red Cross and how it helps people who really need it, whether they know it or not, it is a reminder to all of us but also to people who work professionally in football, such as players and coaches, the bad side of life.
It is very important to think about this often. Especially when you become a parent you think about it more often. Sometimes we need to remember that not everything is rosy in life.
I am very happy that the club is offering to the Red Cross and helping people who are in a worse position than us.
We have heard a lot about the recent fires in Cyprus and from the German media. When you see the faces of our four unfortunate fellow human beings, then you realize that life is precious and from one moment to the next anything can happen.
That is why when there are still people like those who help their fellow human beings who do not even know, a note of optimism is created in the world. We have seen it now with the devastating fires in Limassol, where hundreds of firefighters and volunteers risked their lives to put them out and save the lives of other fellow human beings. That’s the real value of life.”
The supplies and the basic necessities are an offer from the fans, the Apollon Limassol Association and the Apollo Football Company (Public) Ltd.
It should be noted that in the coming days, Apollon, in collaboration with its major sponsor, the Stoiximan Company, will proceed with financial assistance to the victims of the deadly fires.
