Pablo Machin is the new head coach of Apollon FC

Apollon Football (Public) Ltd, announces the beginning of its cooperation with the coach Mr. Pablo Machin who signed a contract until May 2025.

The 48-year-old coach began his coaching career in 2011 when he took over as head coach of Numancia, keeping them comfortably in the league for two consecutive seasons.

In March 2014, he took over Girona with the objective of escaping relegation and after three seasons he took them up to the elite of Spanish football. With Girona he made history as under his guidance the Catalan side were promoted to La Liga for the first time in their history with a combined record of 83 wins, 50 draws and 56 defeats in 189 matches. Notable achievements of the 2017-2018 season included a 2-1 win over Real Madrid, a 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao and a 6-0 win over Las Palmas.

He remained at Girona until May 2018 when Monchi chose him to take over as Sevilla’s head coach, triggering his buyout clause.

He stayed at Sevilla until March 2019, with a record of 26 wins, 9 draws and 15 defeats in 50 matches including UEFA Europa League matches.

He then served as coach of Espanyol where he remained for 15 matches with a record of four wins, three draws and eight defeats.

In August 2020 he took over the technical management of Alaves, leading them to 20 matches with a record of six wins, six draws and eight defeats.

In January 2021 he had his first experience outside of Spain taking over the technical leadership of Al Ain in January 2021, having won two matches, drawn four and lost eight. In June of the same year he took over Al Raed with whom he had seven wins, three draws and nine defeats in 19 matches.

His last stop was Spanish side Elche in November 2022 with whom he had a record of three wins, three draws and eight defeats in 14 matches.

In terms of individual awards, Machin was named as the top coach in the B Division in the 2014-2015 season while in the 2017-2018 season he was named as the third best newcomer in the history of the Spanish league.
