Sessi D’Almeida: Aiming for European Glory with Apollon

Sessi D’Almeida gave his first interview on our club’s official website regarding his transfer to Apollon.

What do you expect from this transfer? What do you want to achieve with Apollon?

What I expect is to return to European competitions. This is my objective. For example, Europa League or Champions League, to reach European level again. This is my goal. I want to win something in the league and have a great season. Apollon won the championship a few years ago and the target is to return to that level. I’m here for this, to reach the highest level.

How was your previous season?

It was an excellent season. In Pau, France, I played over 30 games and many national matches. It was one of the best seasons of my career. I scored goals, played many games, and consider it one of my greatest seasons.

What style of player are you?

I am very active and energetic on the pitch. I try to give everything for the team and the club. I am a fighter with a fighting spirit and an aggressive style. Every team needs a player like this. My strengths include recovering the ball and helping in building play. I will bring this spirit both on the pitch and in the locker room. I am a leader on the pitch and my teammates follow me. If the captain needs my help, I will be there. My strength is on the pitch, but I will be present wherever needed.

In which position do you prefer to play, as a number six or eight?

I can perform well in both positions. As a number six, I utilize my ability to recover the ball, while as a number eight, I help with both offensive and defensive capabilities. I run a lot, recover the ball, and work for the team. This is what I do on the pitch, whether as a six or an eight. I feel comfortable in both positions.

What do you know about the Cypriot league?

I don’t know much, but I am sure the level is high, as the top eight teams are very competitive. It keeps improving with the investments being made and it is expected to be a tough league.

Have you watched any videos of Apollon, the new stadium, the fans?

I have watched some videos of the fans and they are amazing. I saw a few things and I am very happy about it and to play for Apollon. I like their passion.

Do you want to say something to the fans? What can they expect from you?

I can tell the fans that we will have an excellent season. I will give 100% for the team, the club, and the fans.
