At just 16 years of age, Giannis Argyridis is living one of his biggest dreams. In his interview with the club’s official website, he speaks about his emotions, his first experiences with the senior team, his memories as an Apollon supporter and the goals he has set for the future.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

“I am extremely happy. It has always been a lifelong dream to play for Apollon and to sign a professional contract with the team I support,” says the young footballer, who sees this milestone as a starting point rather than the final destination.<\/p>\n

“I believe this is only the beginning. I haven’t achieved anything yet. I need to keep my head down and work hard so that one day I can establish myself in the first team,” he adds.<\/p>\n

As he explains, expectations are now higher and his daily routine is changing.<\/p>\n

“What changes for me is the way I work. I have to train even harder, become more professional and make the most of every opportunity that comes my way.”<\/p>\n

Argyridis recalls with great emotion his first training sessions with the senior team, which took place last April.<\/p>\n

“I was nervous because I wanted to show Mr. Losada that I could cope with the intensity and the level of the first team. I believe I made a good impression and I was very happy when I learned that the people at the club were pleased with my performance.”<\/p>\n

He mainly plays as a left winger, although he can cover all three attacking positions. He considers his pace and his ability to exploit the space behind the opposition defence as the strongest aspects of his game.<\/p>\n

His relationship with Apollon, however, began long before he wore the first-team shirt. As a child, he experienced many special moments from the stands and carries memories that remain deeply engraved in his mind.<\/p>\n

“I remember the European match against Nice in 2013 and the great qualification. Most of what I know has been told to me by my parents because I was only three years old, but I still have memories of the plane and the team bus in Nice. What I remember vividly are the celebrations after winning the league title in 2022. Another special memory comes from Tsirion Stadium, when I accompanied the players onto the pitch as a child and dreamed that one day I would be in their place.”<\/p>\n

Speaking about his football idols, he highlights two former Apollon players.<\/p>\n

“I really liked the way Sasa Markovic played. He was a calm footballer with an excellent shot. From an even younger age, I also remember Gaston Sangoy, who was always a threat to every opposition defence.”<\/p>\n

He was also impressed by the people he met in the first-team dressing room during his first training sessions.<\/p>\n

“Everyone welcomed me with a lot of warmth. I particularly remember Marques, who told me not to be nervous, to be myself and to keep working the way I do because my opportunity would come.”<\/p>\n

As for his ambitions, the young footballer does not hide his biggest desire.<\/p>\n

“My personal goal is to make my debut for Apollon, either this year or next season. I would love to win titles with this club. Experiencing it from the stands is one thing, but living it as a player is completely different.”<\/p>\n

In closing, he did not forget to thank the people who have stood by him throughout his journey.<\/p>\n

“First of all, I want to thank my family, who have always been by my side, all the coaches who helped me develop, and Apollon for giving me this opportunity.<\/p>\n

In my room I have several shirts from Apollon players, and one of the most special is the signed shirt of Giorgos Vasileiou. Today he is the Head of Development for the U19 team and one of the people who contributed to me being here. A few years ago, I was wishing to become an Apollon footballer and today, when I think about having signed a professional contract with the club, I tell myself that my dream is becoming a reality.”<\/p>\n
