Apollon FC announces initial agreement with Lazar Markovic

Apollon Football (Public) Ltd announces the initial agreement with Serbian international footballer Lazar Markovic until May 2026, with an option to extend for one more season.

Markovic, aged 31 (born 02/03/1994), is an attacking midfielder with extensive experience in top European leagues, having played for clubs such as Benfica and Liverpool.

He began his career at Partizan Belgrade, where he won three Serbian league titles before moving to Benfica (2013-14), reaching the Europa League final and winning the domestic double in Portugal.

In the summer of 2014, he signed with Liverpool, while later playing on loan for Fenerbahçe, Sporting Lisbon, Hull City and Anderlecht. He then returned to Serbia with Partizan before moving on to Gaziantep and Trabzonspor.

In recent years, he played in the United Arab Emirates with Baniyas, recording 31 appearances across all competitions, 7 goals and 6 assists in the 2024/25 season.

At international level, Marković has earned 22 caps for the Serbian national team, scoring three goals.

The player is expected to arrive in Cyprus in the coming days to undergo the medical examinations and subsequently finalize his agreement with Apollon.
