Agapios Vrikkis: “I already feel like I belong here”

Agapios Vrikkis is now wearing the blue and white of Apollon Limassol and says he’s ready to give his all for the club. He may be new to the team, but he already feels “at home,” as he revealed in his first interview with our official website. He shared his thoughts on the team, the facilities, his goals, and his playing style.

Agapios, welcome to Apollon. How do you feel about this transfer?
I feel great. It’s a huge honor for me to join a club with such a big history. This is a new challenge for me personally, and I want to contribute and leave my mark on the club’s story.

How are your first few days at the club going?
To be honest, I’ve only been here for two days, but it already feels like I’ve been here for a year. Everyone at the club made me feel right at home. It’s amazing.

What are your impressions of the training center and facilities?
Honestly, everything is impressive. The level is completely professional. When I first saw the gym, I just stood there looking at it for five minutes. We have our own restaurant, modern changing rooms, cryotherapy… everything is perfect. If you haven’t experienced this before, you appreciate it even more.

You’ve played for several teams. What do you take away from your career so far?
Football is a microcosm of life. The challenges – hard training, unfair situations, competition – they make you mature. All of that has made me stronger, not just as a footballer but also as a person.

What was the moment like when the offer from Apollon came in?
It was a very emotional moment. When Mr. Papaioannou called me, I immediately felt the weight of the club. The way he approached me made me understand the size of the team. I’ll always remember that phone call and everything we discussed.

You’ve already worked with coach Sofronis Avgousti. How is your relationship with him?
He was my coach last season. I remember training sessions full of intensity and power. He’s fair, demanding, and respected by everyone. All the players love him. He’s one of the main reasons I’m here, and I’m happy we’re working together again.

What are your goals for this season?
To give 100% in every training session and every match. I want to contribute however I can – whether it’s through goals, assists, or hard work on the pitch. I want to help the team in a meaningful way, both on and off the field.

How would you describe your playing style?
I’m a winger, mostly on the right but I can also play on the left. I like to move behind the defence, make smart runs and passes. I actually prefer assisting goals rather than scoring them.

Finally, what message do you have for the Apollon fans?
I promise to give 100% every day so I can give back to the fans with my performance on the pitch. And above all, I hope we stay united as a team and build great chemistry in the dressing room – because that’s something that always shows on the field.
