Bruno Gaspar: “The Club’s Energy Won Me Over Immediately”

Bruno Gaspar gave his first interview as an Apollon player.

The 32-year-old Portuguese right-back, with experience in top European leagues, joined our team from the first days of pre-season in the Netherlands. He featured in two friendly matches and now continues training in Kolossi, eagerly waiting to meet Apollon fans at the ALFAMEGA Stadium.

Bruno, welcome to Apollon! How do you feel wearing the blue and white?
Honestly, I feel great. This shirt has history and a strong identity. I’m proud to wear it and excited to defend these colors.

What convinced you to say “yes” and continue your career in Cyprus with Apollon?
I felt it was the right step. From the first moment, I felt the club’s trust and saw a plan that excited me. The club showed real interest, and I could see they have big goals. That energy caught me right away.

What were your first impressions when you arrived in the Netherlands and met the team up close?
The guys welcomed me warmly, and I immediately felt that it’s a close-knit group. That made my adaptation much easier. My first impressions are very positive. My teammates are passionate, work hard, and I believe together we can achieve important things. The team is competitive and focused; everyone pushes each other, and there’s a strong team spirit. That’s very important.

How are you experiencing daily life in your new environment and at the club’s training facilities?
Life is good and calm. Limassol is beautiful, the weather is perfect, and the club’s facilities are top. I’m enjoying every day so far.

Was there a teammate or staff member who helped you adapt more quickly?
Yes, everyone at the club was willing to help me, from my teammates to the technical staff. This support makes my adaptation easier. They made everything smooth, on and off the pitch. I really appreciated that.

You have rich experience from Portugal, Italy, Greece, and MLS. What elements do you think you can bring to Apollon from your career so far?
I believe I can offer experience, stability, and energy on the pitch. I want to help the team both with my game and with the mentality I’ve gained from different leagues.

How would you describe your playing style and what should fans expect to see from you on the pitch?
I’m a player who gives everything in every moment. I like to play with passion, help the team in difficult situations, and bring energy to my teammates. I read the game well, help organize the team, and I’m quick in the final third. I like to make the right decisions in the key moments.

What are your personal goals for the new season and what would you like to achieve with the team?
I want to help the team achieve its goals and bring joy to our fans. Personally, I want to stay consistent and give 100% in every match.

I’m really happy to be here. I can’t wait to get on the pitch, feel the energy of the fans, and fight for victories. Let’s have a strong season together!

A season where we give 100% every game, grow together as a group, and ideally, lift a trophy at the end.
