Five players in the Cyprus Men’s national team (May call-up)

The preparation cycle is entering the stage national teams in view of the international matches in May.

Our Men’s National Team will play two friendly matches against Moldova and San Marino. The matches will be played away on 8 and 11 June.

Five players from our squad were called up to the Cyprus Men’s National Team with Giorgos Malekkidis being called up for the first time.

Captain Hambos Kyriakou and Demetris Demetriou, Danilo Spoljaric and Andreas Panagiotou will be at the disposal of Mr. Ketsbia ahead of the two friendly matches.

George Malekkidis: “To fulfil one of my biggest dreams”

This is not the first time Malekkidis has been called up to the national team after his name was included in the Men’s National Team squad last March however due to injury the opportunity for his international debut was postponed.

The 26-year-old player spoke to the team’s official website about the new chapter that is opening in his career stating that he is ready to make his debut with the national flag on his chest.

“What I can say is that I am very proud and happy to be with the national team of Cyprus and playing for my country is one of my biggest dreams.

I feel that through this call-up, I am rewarded for my great effort and for the improvement I have had this season. Although it was not a successful year for the team, I think that on an individual level I improved a lot and gained more confidence.”
