H. Ongenda: “Apollon’s project matches my personal goals”

Welcome to our team Herving. New chapter in your career, what does this transfer mean for you?

Thank you for the welcome and welcome. I’m very happy to be here. I believe that Apollon is a great opportunity for me, not only for this year but also for next seasons. The team is always on the hunt for the championship and this goal matches my personal goals. I’m here to help Apollon succeed.

According to the statements of the president of Botosani, you really wanted your transfer to Apollon, even though you had proposals from other teams.

It is true, there were proposals from teams from Saudi Arabia and Romania, but I really wanted to come to Apollon. As I said before, this is a team that stars every year in the league and plays uninterruptedly in Europe. Apollo’s project fits my personal goals and that’s why I’m here.

Did you contact anyone to tell you information about Apollon?

Yes, I first searched the internet for the club and then contacted Arnoud Djoum who was playing with a former teammate of mine. He confirmed to me that Apollon is a very good and organized team, which stars in Cyprus and is a very good club to work for.

How can you help the team win the championship?

First of all, my goals do not stop at this year’s title. I never set limits on my goals and I like to look at the long term. We are at the top of the table and this shows that we already have a very good and quality team.

Beyond that, I consider that I have a strong personality on the field, I have high technical training and I am a footballer who tries to give solutions to the team and help it win.

Did you manage to talk to the coach?

Yes I had a short conversation in which he welcomed me and briefly explained to me the way we play and what he expects from me. I also told him that I feel ready to help the team win the championship.

You started your career in Paris. What was it like to be in a team with so many stars?

It was amazing, unbelievable! I was already there, in the team academy since I was a child and I was gradually climbing the age ladder. When I was called up to first team training was very difficult. For the first month or two I could not cope because the pace, the quality and generally the level was much higher than I was used to. Then, however, I adjusted and joined normally. It is a great experience to share the locker rooms with such footballers and such personalities. I also hope with my own experience to help my new team succeed in achieving its goals.

I want to thank you very much for the messages you sent me on social media. I watched a lot of videos with fans and what I have to say is that you are very crazy. I hope you continue to support us until the end. Let’s go Apollon!
