Josef Kvida: “I believe I can contribute a lot to Apollon, and I will show it from day one”
Josef Kvida gave his first interview as an Apollon player, speaking about his transfer, his goals, and the message he wants to send to the fans. The experienced defender discussed the challenges of his move, his eagerness to compete, and what he can bring to the team.
– Josef, welcome to Apollon. How do you feel about being here?
I am very happy to be here. It was a long negotiation process, but in the end, we found a solution. I thank God that everything went well, and now I am part of Apollon.
– Why did this transfer take so long?
You know how football is. There are always issues with clubs, but in the end, we found a solution, and I am very happy.
– Why did you choose Apollon?
I spoke with everyone here, and they welcomed me warmly. They explained the club’s project, and they were friendly towards me. Those were important reasons for my decision. Of course, I want to achieve things with Apollon and help the team reach its goals.
– What does this transfer mean for your career?
Every transfer means something, but I can’t say much yet because I’m just getting started. I hope to help the team as much as possible during my time here. I’m looking forward to stepping on the pitch and giving my best.
Everyone knows who you are. What do you believe you can bring to Apollon?
I believe I can add quality to the team, but the most important thing is that the team already has the foundation and potential for a winning mentality to grow even further. From my side, I believe I can contribute a lot to Apollon, and I will show it from day one. Together with my new teammates, we will give our best to achieve our goals and bring success to the club.
– Have you received messages from Apollon fans? Was there one that stood out to you?
To be honest, I don’t read too many messages because I’m not really a social media person. My wife is the one who checks those things more. I received a lot of messages from different clubs, but now I’m here, and I’m happy about it.
– Did you have other offers from clubs in Cyprus?
It doesn’t matter. I signed with Apollon, and that’s all that counts.
– What convinced you to say yes to Apollon?
Everything came together in the last few days, and I was convinced that we could make it happen. In the end, we did.
– What is your current physical condition?
I am a professional, and I take care of my body and my legs. I feel fresh and excited to play in front of our fans, whom I know are truly amazing. I hope to show from the very first moment that I am ready.
– Can you play 90 minutes on Sunday?
Good question! I can try, but if you haven’t played a full match for a long time, it’s always difficult. I believe I can play, but it depends on how long I am needed. The final decision belongs to the coach, but from a physical perspective, I feel ready.
– How was this period for you?
Difficult, but I learned a lot. In life, you meet people who teach you things, and certain moments make you stronger. If something doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.
– What do you want to achieve with Apollon, both as a team and on a personal level?
I want to become a better player and a better person. As a team, I want to bring joy to our fans and fight for the top positions, where Apollon deserves to be. I will give my best to make this a reality.
– What message would you like to send to the fans?
I’m looking forward to seeing you all at the stadium. I’ve been in Cyprus for the past four years, so I know how passionate and incredible the Apollon fans are. I can’t wait to start, and I hope we can make you proud.
– What number did you choose and why?
I chose 44. For the past seven years, I wore number 4 – five years in Pafos and two in the Netherlands. This time, it wasn’t available, but 44 is also a great number. Hopefully, I can do even better with it.
