Match Report | ANORTHOSIS-APOLLON (1-3)

Our team secured a spot in the Cyprus Cup semi-finals with a 3-1 victory over Anorthosis at the “Antonis Papadopoulos” Stadium.

For the second consecutive year, we have reached the last four of the competition, marking our 18th appearance at this stage. Our goal is to return to the final after seven years (last time in 2018) and compete for our tenth Cup title, the first in eight years.

The match started ideally for us, as we took a two-goal lead within the first 25 minutes. In the 7th minute, after a cross-shot by Sagal and an unstable clearance by Zivkovic, Dion seized the opportunity and scored from close range to make it 1-0. In the 22nd minute, Weesbeek doubled our lead with a powerful shot from the edge of the box.

At the start of the second half (46′), Dion capitalized on Anorthosis’ defensive lapse and netted his second goal, extending our lead to 3-0. In the 82nd minute, Gyurcsó pulled one back for Anorthosis, making the final score 1-3.

A notable moment in the match was the debut of our new signings, Wouter and Youssef, who came on as substitutes.

Next match: On Sunday (03/02), we host Omonia Aradippou at the “Alphamega” Stadium.
