Match Report | APOLLON-ANORTHOSIS (2-0)
We secured our place in the quarter-finals of the Coca-Cola Cup with a 2-0 victory over Anorthosis at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium, in the Round of 16.
We started the match with intensity and control, creating the first chances, with Weissbeck threatening early on. Anorthosis responded through a long-range effort by Kiko, but Kuhn reacted superbly. Our opener came in the 32nd minute, when Marques made a well-timed run behind the defence and calmly finished past Karlström. Although initially flagged for offside, the goal was awarded following a VAR review.
After the break, we maintained our attacking approach, with Marques going close on several occasions, including an effort that struck the post. Anorthosis threatened through a Sosa header, but Kuhn was once again decisive. In the 68th minute, we sealed the qualification as Rodrigues delivered a low cross and Marques finished from close range to make it 2-0.
We managed the game professionally until the final whistle, celebrating a deserved qualification to the last eight and our fourth consecutive win in all competitions.
Our next fixture is a league derby against APOEL, on Sunday, 18 January 2026, at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium, for the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
