Match Report | APOLLON – APOEL (2-1)
We celebrated an important derby victory at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium, defeating APOEL 2-1 in the 18th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
The first half was ideal for our side. We took an early lead in the 10th minute through a Brandon Thomas penalty and gained a numerical advantage shortly after, following Belec’s red card in the 17th minute. We maintained control and doubled our lead in first-half stoppage time (45+1’), with Garry Rodrigues converting from the penalty spot.
Just before the break, Brown was sent off (45+6’), restoring numerical balance. APOEL came out strongly in the second half and reduced the deficit in the 51st minute through a Laifis header. They pushed for an equaliser and created chances, but we showed resilience and composure. Kun made crucial saves, while the woodwork denied APOEL late on.
The final whistle confirmed a valuable derby win, taking us to 33 points and extending our strong run under Hernán Losada.
Our next league fixture is scheduled for Saturday, 24 January 2026, at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium against Akritas.
