Match Report | Apollon – Aris (0-2)

Before kick-off, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of the late mother of our President, Mr. Nikos Kirzis, Nadina, with players of both teams wearing black armbands.

The match began at a high tempo and Aris Limassol took an early lead in the 4th minute, as Montnor’s move from the left resulted in an own goal by Kvinta. Aris controlled most of the first half, creating several chances, while Koun kept us in the game with a crucial penalty save against Gomis in the 38th minute.

In the second half, we showed a better response, pushed higher up the pitch and applied pressure, creating opportunities through Gaspar, Kvinta and Marques, without finding the equaliser. Deep into stoppage time, Aris sealed the win on the counter-attack, with Mayambela scoring the second goal to make it 2-0.

Despite our improved performance after the break, we were unable to change the outcome of the Limassol derby.
