Match report | OLYMPIAKOS – APOLLON (2-2)

Our Matchday 8 fixture in the Cyprus League by Stoiximan ended in dramatic fashion, as we drew 2-2 with Olympiakos Nicosia at GSP Stadium. Despite completing a late comeback in stoppage time, the hosts equalised with the last kick of the match.

We started the game strongly, controlling possession and creating several chances through Zmrhal, Rodríguez and Kvida, but couldn’t find the net. Against the run of play, Olympiakos took the lead in the 44th minute through João Mario, which remained the score at halftime.

In the second half, we continued to push for an equaliser, coming close through Rodríguez and Thomas, and finally found the breakthrough in the 77th minute. Agapios Vrikkis, just a minute after coming on, scored his first goal for Apollon, making it 1-1. Then, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Weissbeck turned the game around with a close-range finish for 2-1 — only for Barbosa to level at 2-2 in the dying seconds.

It was our first draw of the season in a thrilling, end-to-end match. With this result, we move to 13 points, remaining inside the top six of the league table.

Our next match comes on Wednesday (29/10) against MEAP in the Cyprus Cup, at Ammochostos Stadium.
