APOLLON FC – PAFOS FC

Our season came to an end with a 2-0 defeat against Pafos FC in the Coca-Cola Cup final at the GSP Stadium, in a match where we remained highly competitive for long periods but failed to capitalise on the clear chances we created.

We controlled the tempo during the first half and came very close to taking the lead, with Rodrigues hitting the post in the 18th minute after high pressing forced an error in the opposition defence, while further opportunities followed through Marques, Thomas, Malekkidis and Gaspar.

Pafos FC improved after the break in a second half shaped by tactical discipline and limited chances for both sides. The match was decided in the closing stages when Jaja opened the scoring in the 84th minute with a powerful strike from outside the area before providing the assist for Pepe in stoppage time to seal the final result.

Tensions and dismissals followed late on in a heated ending to the final, which brought the curtain down on a demanding yet overall successful campaign for our team. Apollon finished the season in third place in the league, reached the Cup final and secured a return to European competitions for the first time since the 2022-23 season.
