Description
After a thrilling match decided in extra time, we secured our place in the semi-finals of the Coca-Cola Cup with a 3-2 victory over Omonia Aradippou at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium.
We started the match strongly and controlled the tempo from the opening minutes. In the 14th minute, Marques opened the scoring after an assist from Gaspar, and five minutes later he doubled our lead, capitalising on a defensive mistake. The visitors reduced the deficit in the 32nd minute through Polykarpou, keeping the match competitive until halftime.
In the second half we created chances to extend our lead, but Omonia Aradippou equalised in the 72nd minute through Lomonaco, sending the match to extra time. In the 105th minute, Brandon Thomas finished calmly to restore our advantage, which we successfully managed until the final whistle despite late pressure.
With this result, we booked our place in the semi-finals of the competition.
Our next fixture is on Sunday, 8 February, at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium against Olympiacos, for the Cyprus League by Stoiximan.
