Presentation of the anniversary album: The living history of Apollon

Yesterday evening, in a moving atmosphere, the presentation of the anniversary album “Apollon Limassol: The History 1954-2024” took place, marking 70 years of the club’s existence.

The event, organized by Apollon Football (Public) Ltd, brought together a large audience, including veteran football players, media representatives, and the club’s leadership.

The event was coordinated by Apollon’s spokesman, Fanourios Konstantinou, who welcomed the attendees and introduced the speakers. The panel included the President of the Football Company, Nikos Kirzis, former president Mr. Pambos Georgiades, and veteran players Dimos Kavazis, Giannakis Giangoudakis, Pambos Pittas, Milenko Spoljaric, Kristis Theofilou, and Hambos Kyriakou.

Nikos Kirzis took the floor, emphasizing the importance of the event and the presence of the protagonists of Apollon’s history. He described the album as a “legacy for the future,” a bright future filled with new chapters of history. He explained the significance of the book, noting that it is a detailed account of the club’s history from 1954 to 2024. “There is no similar album in any other team in Cyprus,” he said, stressing its importance for every Apollon fan. Furthermore, Mr. Kirzis praised the efforts of the contributors, referring to important moments of the club, from the first trophies to European successes, and highlighted the need for unity and support from the fans.

A brief speech followed from Mr. Georgiades, who expressed his happiness for the event and wished Apollon another 100 years of success.

The event continued with touching speeches from the veteran players. Dimos Kavazis spoke about the family that Apollon created for its players and the club’s great legacy. Giannakis Giangoudakis recalled his first experiences with the club and the veterans’ ongoing commitment to supporting Apollon. Pambos Pittas wished for even more successes for the club in the future, while Milenko Spoljaric shared his fond memories of his career and his pride in being part of the Apollon family. Finally, Hambos Kyriakou emphasized the responsibility of the new players to continue the club’s glorious history.

The event concluded with an announcement by Nikos Kirzis regarding the creation of a documentary that will bring Apollon’s history to life, based on the anniversary album. The president noted that the documentary would be the perfect closing act for the club’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

The album, which consists of 724 pages, 31 sections, 2350 photos, and rich archival material, is now available for purchase at the two Apollon Official Stores and online through the e-shop.
