Thank you Costas and all the best in your career
Apollon Football Company (Public) Ltd has completed its collaboration with head physiotherapist Costas Papas.
The Greek was appointed as a physiotherapist for the 2018-19 season, and he returned to Apollon’s technical staff as head physiotherapy in the summer of 2020.
We appreciate Kostas for his many years of service to the club in whatever role he served, and we wish him the best in his career and personal life.
Costas Papas says farewell to Apollon with a written statement at www.apollon.com on the occasion of the completion of our collaboration.
“When I accepted the offer from the Medical team’s director, Dr. Kakavelakis, we were directed to modify everything in this sector. We used a strategy that is a model for Cyprus facts that is based on how major European clubs operate with the daily presence of the Doctor and four physiotherapists in training. We got the opportunity to establish a fully equipped physiotherapy center at the training ground, all with the administration’s backing.
I want to underline that the administration provided us with everything we required, which is why we had such excellent outcomes. Apollon has accomplished a lot in recent years with a number of talented players, proving that success requires consistent and persistent work. The bonding and chemistry of the players on this year’s team was excellent and contributed to our success.
I had many wonderful and lovely experiences at Apollon, but I’d like to highlight two of the most memorable for me. The first time I arrived to the organization was in 2018, when everyone on the team greeted me with open arms. We made a major effort that summer to get into the UEFA Europa League group stage, and we did so with considerable difficulty. It was an unbelievable experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.
This year’s triumph was the second most significant occasion of my Apollon career. Winning the championship is every football professional’s desire, regardless of role. The delight is unique and special for me since I am leaving the football field today and am ready to take the next professional step in my career in Heraklion, Crete, by opening my own physiotherapy facility.
I leave Apollon with a wealth of experience and knowledge that has aided me in being a better professional and as person. This club’s organisation has converted me into a more demanding person and has assisted me in progressing to the next level.
I’d want to underline that Apollon has nothing to worry with the supporters on his side. The attendance this year was fantastic. Thats why please support, and only support the club and similar thrills and evenings will come in the future.
I remember the excellent collaboration we had in the medical team since it is impossible to stay together and obtain such a fantastic outcome in such a huge team and without knowing the other children except the Doctor, who has a great relationship and common birthplace. What I’m leaving, and what I don’t want to leave, is the team’s participation in the Champions League qualifications next year, which is the best feeling for any professional.
I want to thank the players, coaches, medical team, and all of the team staff, but I want to thank two individuals: the doctor Kyriakos Kakavelakis and the president Nikos Kirzis. They are two persons that stand out for their principles, integrity, and kindness.
I hope and am confident that the club will achieve even greater success in the future since the president adores the squad and is continually striving for the utmost potential…
Good luck, Apollon. I will never forget you!!!”
