Apollon supports Cyprus Autism Association
Apollon FC donated basic home appliances to the Cyprus Autism Association and specifically to the new program “Katoikia Agapi” which is co-financed by the European Union and the Department of Social Integration of People.
The devices were handed over to the Director of “Katoikia Agapi” Mrs. Stella Sophocleous and the administrative officer of the Pancyprian Association of People with Autism Mr. Andri Stavrou.
The Director of “Agapi House” Stella Sophocles, after thanking Apollon for this donation, explained how important each offer is.
“Our desire for help is a fact, but our financial resources are limited. We need the necessities to create and equip a decent home so that our children have the necessities”.
Then the administrative officer of the Association Mr. Andri Stavrou explained to us that the Pancyprian Association of People with Autism supports and helps more than 500 families in Cyprus through the Day Centers which operate throughout Cyprus.
“What we want and set as a goal is to help these children integrate into society, to improve as much as possible with the ultimate goal of one day being able to self-serve.
Our goal is for the children to become as autonomous as possible and to support themselves “.
Concluding, Mrs. Sophocleous stressed that the most important thing can do when sees signs of autism in one’s child, is immediate intervention and the constant effort for improvement.
