E. Peretz: I can win titles here
Apollon Football (Public) Ltd announces the finalization of the agreement with Israeli midfielder Eliel Peretz, who successfully passed the necessary medical examinations.
The central midfielder spoke about his transfer to Apollon Limassol in a statement on the club’s official website www.apollon.com.cy
Welcome to our team Eliel. What does your transfer to Apollon mean to you?
It is a very good opportunity that I am here. This is an organized club that competes for the championship every year and participates in Europe. I have always wanted to win titles and I am happy that I can achieve that here. It was something I was looking for and I found it at Apollon. I spoke to Ido (Shahar) who told me a lot of good things about the team and the city and I didn’t think twice about it.
What did Ido tell you about our team?
That it’s a fantastic club that is in the top flight, with amazing fans, excellent facilities and that they are fighting for all the titles. All these things convinced me to join Apollon. As soon as he informed me about the situation I decided that Apollon is my future! I am here to bring the title back to our team.
What else did you ask about the team or the city?
About the city I asked other people I know who live in Cyprus and I have no doubt about how beautiful it is. About the club I wanted to know if the team will be able to bounce back because last season was not successful. I asked him what he thought about the coach, about the staff, about the players, about the atmosphere in the club and from what he told me I understood that I had to play here.
It’s not the first time you’ve left your country to play. What was your previous experience like?
I played for two years in Austria with Wolfsberger. It was a very good experience, I was younger, I wanted to try outside my home country and I think it was a successful experience there. I scored a lot of goals, I gave a lot of assists, I was lucky enough to play in European competitions and it’s something I want to repeat with my presence. It was a good two years for me and I improved a lot.
The normal thing was to continue abroad however you returned to your country. What happened?
I had several offers to play in a European championship but I was waiting for something better so I missed some good opportunities. I’m a big believer in doing things for a good cause and that’s what happened. Anyway, my wife was pregnant and it would have been good to be around our family. But I was determined to play only one season in Israel, to have good performance and I was sure that the opportunity to play abroad would come back.
Apart from Apollon, what other offers did you have?
I had from my previous team, from other teams in Israel, from Austria and Poland but the one from Apollon was the most suitable for me. As I said at the beginning, I spoke with Indo and Konstantinos Sotiriou (his teammate at Hapoel Haifa) and they explained that Apollon is an ambitious team that will meet my needs.
What kind of footballer are you?
I will give the answer on the pitch (laughs). I’m a footballer who doesn’t like to hide, give assists, score, carry the ball, run a lot and fight all the time. That’s the kind of footballer I am. I can defend, I can attack, but I’ll say more on the pitch. I’m sure the fans of the team will like me.
What can the fans expect from you?
A player who will give his all on the pitch. I fight with passion to win every game, regardless of the opponent, I will work hard to make them happy and bring titles to the team. That’s what they can expect.
The player chose to play with the number 8.
We welcome the player to the club and wish him every success playing in blue and white.
