Match Report | BRANN – APOLLON (0-1)

We took an important step towards qualification with a 1-0 victory over Brann at the Brann Stadion, courtesy of Ozbolt’s 22nd-minute winner.

We controlled the first half and created the better chances through Weissbeck, Kvida and Escriche in addition to our goal, while Brann’s best opportunity came through Eriksen, whose effort was denied by a fine save from Kuhn.

The Norwegian side showed the quality of their passing game on several occasions but struggled to create clear-cut chances.

After the break, we managed the game well and protected our advantage, while Brann increased the pressure in the closing stages. However, our defensive organisation and Kuhn’s key interventions ensured we kept a clean sheet until the final whistle.

The match also marked the European debut of Nearchos Zinonos.

The tie will be decided in the return leg on Wednesday, 11 August, at the Alphamega Stadium.
