Match Report | OMONOIA- APOLLON (1-1)

For the 24th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan, we drew 1-1 against Omonia at the GSP Stadium in a high-intensity derby.

The match began at a strong pace, with both sides looking to impose their style. Our first big chance came in the 12th minute through Marques. In the 37th minute, we capitalised on a defensive mistake and Garry Rodrigues scored with a powerful long-range strike to give us the lead. Omonia responded quickly, equalising in the 40th minute through Tankovic.

In the second half, the hosts increased their pressure and found the net in the 56th minute, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review for handball in the build-up. We gradually regained balance and came close in the 74th minute when Weissbeck’s effort went just wide. We remained disciplined until the final whistle and secured an important point, maintaining the six-point gap from the top.
