Matchday | APOLLON – APOEL (3-2)

In the first leg of the Cup semi-final, we secured an important 4-2 victory over APOEL at the Alphamega Stadium, taking a strong advantage ahead of the return leg. We entered the match with intensity and took the lead in the 10th minute through an own goal by Stafylidis after pressure inside the box. APOEL equalised in the 23rd minute through Mancini, but our response was immediate as we regained control of the match. Brandon Thomas restored our lead in the 32nd minute, while Marques made it 3-1 in the 38th minute, capping off an excellent first-half performance by our team.

In the second half, we managed our advantage well despite APOEL’s pressure, with the visitors reducing the deficit in the 86th minute through Olayinka. Our response was immediate once again, as Assuncao scored with a stunning long-range effort one minute later to make it 4-2 and restore our two-goal cushion ahead of the second leg. We also hit the post in stoppage time through Kvita, completing a night in which our team showed efficiency, determination and strong character.

Our next match is against Omonia at the Alphamega Stadium on Sunday, 26 April, for Matchday 6 of the playoff round.
