Philipp Kühn stays until 2026

Apollon Football (Public) Ltd announces the contract renewal of Philipp Kühn until May 2026.

The German goalkeeper joined Apollon in November 2024 and has since made 17 appearances across all competitions, keeping seven clean sheets.

Philipp Kühn spoke exclusively to www.apollon.com.cy about the renewal of his contract and his experience so far at Apollon.

Congratulations on renewing your contract with Apollon. What does this new agreement mean to you personally?
Thank you very much. I’m really happy to continue at Apollon. These first six months have been a completely new experience for me, as it was the first time I played outside of Germany. I came here determined to give my best and help the team — and I believe I’ve done that.

I’m pleased with how things have developed and with the fact that the club wants to continue working with me. Now we need a break to rest, and from next season our goal is clear: to return to European competitions.

This renewal shows that the club believes in you. Do you feel that trust in your daily routine?
Absolutely. From the very first day I felt that trust. I’ve always worked hard — not just on the pitch but also in the gym, because to be ready, you need both physical and mental strength. It’s a demanding job. It’s not just about training hours — it’s a daily commitment.

When the opportunity came in December to play, I was ready. The club believed in me and I really appreciate it. I feel that both the club and I are happy with how things are going, and we can keep moving forward strongly.

How was your first half-season with the team?
I joined at a very difficult time for Apollon, in November. Two weeks later we had an interim coach, and ten days after that, there was another change. It was a rough period overall. But then we had the chance to prepare under the new coach, we improved as a team, got good results, and made it into the top six. The most important matches were the Cup games.

But for me personally, it was a good and beautiful experience — in a wonderful country, at a European club. From day one, I had a good feeling. Sometimes you have that feeling, sometimes you don’t. Here, I had it. Everyone at the club was friendly, polite, and helped me.

What’s your message to the fans of Apollon?
I’m happy to be part of this team. Thank you all for your support — even during the tough times. Now we need the summer break to recharge and come back stronger next season. But we need you with us. Only together is it possible. We have a lot of fans, and in Germany we often say “the 12th man”. When we’re together, we have more strength.
