Match Report | APOLLON – PAFOS (2-1)
For the 6th round of the Cyprus League by Stoiximan play-offs, we faced Pafos FC at the Alphamega Stadium and claimed an important 2-1 victory.
We started the match with intensity, imposed our rhythm early and took the lead in the 10th minute when a quick attacking move resulted in an own goal. We maintained our momentum and doubled our lead in the 22nd minute, as Brandon Thomas finished clinically after a cross from Rodrigues. Pafos FC responded quickly and reduced the deficit in the 25th minute with a header from a set piece, keeping the game open until halftime.
In the second half, we managed our advantage, while the visitors increased their pressure and created chances, with Kuhn making crucial saves to keep us ahead. Two goals for Pafos FC were disallowed after VAR review for offside, while we threatened on the counterattack through Escriche but could not add a third goal. We held on until the final whistle to secure a valuable win that moves us into second place in the standings.
